Layer display controls

A DVD menu has three layers:

DVDit Pro bullet Layer display controls  The background layer, which contains the full-color images and video.

DVDit Pro bullet Layer display controls  The subpicture layer, which contains the subpicture images for each button.

DVDit Pro bullet Layer display controls  The highlight layer, which contains the highlight rectangles that identify the buttons to the DVD player.

All three layers are displayed by default. You can hide layers to make menu creation easier. For example, while defining or editing buttons in a menu created from a layered Photoshop file (see Using layered Photoshop files to create menus), you may prefer to hide the background layer so that you can see the button subpictures and highlight rectangles more clearly.

To hide a layer:

  • Choose View > View Background Layer, View Subpicture Layer, or View Highlight Layer, depending on which layer you want to hide.
